Are you a successful technology leader, but unfulfilled, bored or unhappy in your current role?
Do you wonder about running your own company, starting a new career or doing something completely different, but aren’t sure what that looks like?
Do any of the following sound familiar?
- You don’t know what to do, so do nothing
- You feel financially trapped
- You feel institutionalised and think you cannot do anything else
- You find it hard to give up a role that took you years to achieve
- You feel relatively safe and comfortable
- You’d like to make a move, but are scared you may screw up
- It just seems impossible right now
If this sounds like you, I can help. My proven six step coaching programme has been designed for people just like you. Take a look at what I cover during a typical programme –
Step 1 – Discover your Why
During the first key step of the programme, we will perform a deep internal assessment to help you discover your why – your purpose, your compass, the reason you get up every morning.
I always want to be the best at what I do so that I can help people I respect achieve success. I am motivated by receiving recognition from those I help and rewarded with further opportunities to grow.
Step 2 – Discover your How
We will look at your passions, your experience and your strengths to determine how you want to deliver your why through your work as a leader.
I want to help other technology leaders successfully overcome some of the toughest personal challenges in their career. The same challenges I faced during my own career as a senior technology leader.
Step 3 – Discover your What
We will determine what you are going to do next. We evaluate at a number of career options which align with your why and how and make a decision on your next exciting and fulfilling career.
I will run my own business to provide offline and online coaching and mentoring programmes to help technology leaders overcomes the toughest personal challenges in their career.
Step 4 – Overcome Internal Blockers
We will work on how to overcome those internal blockers that are stopping you from moving forward to that fulfilling new career.
I have a limiting belief that I cannot keep the same lifestyle for me and my family running a business as I can as a senior corporate technology leader.
Step 5 – Plan
We will work on the exit strategy from your current role, How you get that new business off the group or how you find and get accepted for that exciting new job you want.
To help you achieve this, we will work together and create a challenging, but achievable 90-day plan of action, complete with timescales and measurables.
I will then help you get buy in to your plan from your key support network so you have the support needed through your difficult journey.
We will also look at the risks and put in place mitigation actions to ensure you stay on track.
Step 6 – Execute
Lastly, you will start executing your plan with full support from your change and accountability champion.
Kick off exploratory meeting to discuss your current situation, desired outcomes and timelines. This is ideally face to face.
Regular 1-2-1 coaching sessions to take you through each step of the programme. These can be face to face, phone or video call.
WhatsApp, email and telephone support between sessions if needed.
Post programme follow up to celebrate your outcomes and learnings.
During the programme, you’ll experience
Why this programme & why this coach?
Unlike many other coaches in the market, I have followed the same challenging journey from outwardly successful, but unhappy technology leader to running my own fulfilling and rewarding business. Let me share my story:
I was a senior technology leader, with an impressive title, large global team and a hefty compensation package. My family and I were proud of what I had achieved, but I felt unhappy and unfulfilled.
I often dreamed about running my own company but did not know what to do. So, I stayed put. The more this went on, the more disenchanted and anxious I became.
I started to disengage at work and I took my emotions home with me.
My daughter constantly asked me why I was unhappy and grumpy
This was a trigger that I had to do something, but what?
Looking back, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. A colleague of mine had been on a coaching course at the weekend and wanted someone to practice on. I agreed, thinking I was helping him out, but boy was I wrong. We worked for weeks together and finally realised that it was ok not to know what to do. I had to try a new approach to find out what my next career move was.
I decided to take a year out to try these new things and spend more time with my family. I got my family’s support, which was critical, developed a plan and started execution.
It felt like a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I was excited, focussed and driven to find out what my future direction would be.
I created and sold a web application, qualified as a coach and started building my new business.
I loved it, but, unfortunately, I got scared. Could I really do this? Was I prepared to continue to back myself? Would I run out of cash? And, I don’t mind admitting, at that stage, I lost my bottle and bolted back to safety into another corporate leadership role. I convinced myself that this was just a holding pattern, but after a year I got stuck again and became disgruntled, disheartened and very unhappy. Grumpy old dad was back.
I hired a qualified coach who spent a year with me helping me discover my “why”, working on my fears, my limiting beliefs and my business plan. I have never worked so hard on my internal self before. When I was a 100% ready, I hit the eject button again.
I have taken what worked and what didn’t work during my difficult journey and carefully designed a programme that will help you and others to succeed during this challenging time in your career.
I have had some difficult challenges in my career, but this was the most difficult. I 100% believe that without professional support, I would never have succeeded.
Nicholas is an excellent mentor and coach. Using his wealth of management experience, he has helped me drive my career and overcome challenges that I face.
Nick is an incredible mentor and coach. Having worked in his team at Credit Suisse and learning from his leadership and people skills, I am glad he has considered coaching through his venture ‘Develite’. I have been following his blogs and it has helped me a lot and I highly recommend people to read them and connect with Nick to receive his coaching for personal and professional development.
Overall, Nick had a hugely positive impact on my business.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Nick to anyone who is looking to challenge and improve themselves whilst staying true to who the want to be.
Nick’s coaching helped me stop feeling completely overwhelmed by workload and shown me how I can take a calm step by step approach to decide what I need to achieve and then work out a logical order of tasks to get there.
If you decide during this meeting not to work with me or we aren’t a perfect fit: no problem.
