The Storm

There is a storm coming, unlike any storm you have seen before –

  • Financial markets are seeing volatility way more significant than was seen in the 2008 financial crisis.
  • Countries around the world are locking down and building up a considerable deficit.
  • Financial gurus are predicting a global recession that could last for years.

The Calm

Nearly everyone I spoke to last week seems to be in a holding pattern. Their families are safe, they feel financially secure, their new working environment has stabilised, and their current workload is ticking along.

Personally, I see this as the calm before the storm.

I believe that you’ll never get an opportunity like this in your life where you have the time to prepare for what’s coming.

What can you do to stand out from your peers to put you in a more indispensable position? – Maybe even in a position for future promotion.

1. Realignment

What’re the most significant problems your company is facing right now, and how can you use your unique value proposition to help solve these problems? What’s your new vision, and how are you going to deliver it?

2. Performance

How are you going to be rated in the top 10% this year?

3. Scale

How are you going to scale up to manage this new workload as well as the workload that will hit you during the storm without burning out and impacting your relationships?

Attract

How are you going to attract opportunities internally and externally?

1. Profile

Are your digital and non-digital assets up to date and are you leveraging them to grow your profile? – Unique Value Proposition, Vision, Personal Brand, LinkedIn, CV.

2. Create

How are you creating and building relationships on and offline?

3. Convert

Are you in a position to convert these opportunities when they show up?

Reinvent Yourself

How are you reinventing yourself for the future? – career progression, career transition, career change or new business.

1. Research

Where are your company and other companies going to invest in during and after the storm?

What do you want to do that is more fulfilling and does it align with areas of investment?

2. Build

How are you going to grow to realign and what support do you need?

3. Launch

When and how are you going to launch the reinvented you?
